Hair transplant is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available for hair loss and baldness problems. FUE hair transplant methods boost patients’ trust in hair transplants. Furthermore, these treatments produce natural-looking results, which is why an increasing number of people are choosing hair transplants. However, there are several activities or situations you should avoid if you want to see long-term improvements. For instance, you should not drive after the operation since you will be sedated. You should ask for help from a friend or call a taxi. If you choose a hair transplant in Turkey, you should know that many clinics offer packages that include transportation. Here are some things you need to avoid to have a quick recovery process and better results after your hair transplant operation.

 Sleeping Flat

To reduce the chance of swelling, you must sleep with your head raised for the first seven days after the operation. It is true that not everyone experiences swelling after a hair transplant, but it is good to be cautious and keep your head elevated by 45 degrees for the first couple of weeks. If you are already experiencing swelling, you might consider keeping your head a little higher while you sleep. Otherwise, your swelling problem might get worse and your recovery might take longer than expected.

 Scrubbing Your Hair or Showering

Do not wash your hair for the first 48 hours following your hair transplant. You can gently wash your hair on the third day following treatment. Also, do not direct the water onto your scalp. Instead, rinse the shampoo out of your hair using a cup. Make sure your scalp does not experience any pressure.

 Dyeing Your Hair

You cannot dye your hair within four weeks after having your hair restored. If you can’t go four weeks without dyeing your hair, you should dye it before your surgery. There are no harmful side effects of dyeing your hair just before your hair transplant process, but the harsh chemicals present in hair dye might damage the effectiveness of the transplanted follicles. The transplanted follicles are quite fragile for several weeks following the hair transplant, so you need to be extra careful with them

Applying Ice Directly to Your Scalp

Just like you should avoid rubbing your new hairline on your pillow, you should avoid applying ice directly to the areas of your scalp with transplanted hair. In fact, you should try not to touch your scalp for at least the first three days after the operation. After 72 hours, you should only softly touch your scalp. Remember, rather than scratching an irritable scalp, use conditioner gently.

Consuming Alcohol

Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it dehydrates you. This can lengthen your healing period and increase the chances of complications. Furthermore, it can raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels and limit the availability of blood and vital nutrients to your brain. Avoid drinking for the first week following your surgery.
